| What is a Buddy Walk®? Each year, in celebration of National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, communities all across the country participate in Buddy Walks® to raise awareness of this common genetic condition. On October 8, 2011 the Columbus Area Down Syndrome Support Group, in conjunction with the National Down Syndrome Society, will be hosting their 11th annual Buddy Walk®. The Buddy Walk® was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October. The Buddy Walk® has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to over 300 walks in 2010. In 2010 over $12 million was raised nationwide to benefit local programs and services, as well as the national advocacy and public awareness initiatives of NDSS that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome. The proceeds from the Buddy Walk® are used to provide services and support to families in South Central Indiana. A portion of the funds are forwarded to the National Down Syndrome Society to support their education and advocacy efforts. |

How can I be part of Buddy Walk® 2011?
Register to Walk! There is no fee to participate. All walkers are encouraged
to collect donations from family, friends and co-workers. Advanced
registration is not required. You can register for Buddy Walk® 2011 on-line
here or at Donner Park the day of the walk.
Create a Team! Any number of people can be a team. Forming a team is
easy and fun. Simply ask your closest friends or co-workers to sign-up. Show
your team spirit and make a banner (optional) to carry in the walk.
Be a virtual walker! The Columbus Area Down Syndrome Support Groups
knows how busy everyone is juggling work, family, school events, etc. For
those who want to participate and can't make it out to the walk, please know
that your financial contribution to Buddy Walk® 2011 is still important to us.
Be assured that our thoughts will be with you at Buddy Walk® 2011. Please

What are the details for Buddy Walk® 2011?
Buddy Walk® 2011 will be held on October 8, 2011 at Donner Park in
Columbus, Indiana. Please come to the Donner Park Shelter house at 10:30
a.m. for registration. The Buddy Walk® will start promptly at Noon. Food and
